Business Elevation Show, Why we need more Heroes

What does it really mean to be a hero in today’s world?

When we hear the word “hero”, many of us think of extraordinary people achieving extraordinary things. But what if heroism is something available to all of us, every day, through the choices we make, the challenges we embrace, and the difference we choose to create?

In today’s live episode of the Business Elevation Show, I have the pleasure of speaking with Paula Reid – adventurer, speaker, author, and pioneering Adventure Psychologist.

Paula has spent her life pushing the boundaries of human potential. From skiing to the South Pole and yacht racing around the world to supporting humanitarian initiatives in Ukraine, she has explored first-hand what helps people perform, thrive and grow in the face of uncertainty, adversity and challenge.

Drawing on more than 120 adventures, a Master’s degree in Positive Psychology, and her groundbreaking work in Adventure Psychology, Paula shares some fascinating insights into courage, resilience, curiosity and her philosophy of “Going Knowingly into the Unknownâ„¢”.

Some key takeaways to expect from our conversation:
✅ Growth rarely happens inside our comfort zones
✅ Courage is not the absence of fear – it’s taking action despite it
✅ Curiosity can be a powerful tool for navigating uncertainty
✅ Small acts of everyday heroism can have an extraordinary impact
✅ Purpose and contribution often emerge when we step beyond what feels familiar

We’ll also explore the inspiration behind Paula’s TEDx talk, We Need More Heroes, and discuss the incredible humanitarian work being undertaken through the Hopefull initiative in Ukraine.

This is a conversation about adventure, leadership, resilience and purpose—but above all, it’s a reminder that each of us has the potential to make a meaningful difference in the world.
